Behind-The-Ear:
1. Behind-The-Ear (BTE) Standard:
With the BTE, the electronics of the hearing aids sit behind your ear with a standard tube running down the front of the ear. There is a custom-made mould on the end which sits in the ear. We may recommend these aids if you need more power or if you have trouble putting your aid in and taking it out.
2.Behind-The-Ear (BTE) Slim Tube:
Similar to the standard BTE, the electronics of this hearing aid sit behind your ear with a slim tube running down the front of the ear. It can have a custom tip or dome on the end which sits in the ear. We may recommend this style if there are ongoing issues with moisture or wax in the ear canal.
Custom Hearing Aids:
1. Invisible-In-The-Canal (IIC)/ Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)
These are very small, custom-made hearing aids that fit deep in the ear canal and are very discreet. We may recommend these aids if you’re concerned about the appearance of the hearing aid.
2. In-The-Canal (ITC)/ In-The-Ear (ITE)
These aids are also custom made, however they are slightly larger and can be seen sitting in the entrance to the ear canal. We may recommend these aids if you need more power or if you have trouble putting your aid in and taking it out.
Receiver-in-the-canal (RIC):
With the RIC aid, most of the electronics sit behind the ear with a discreet wire running down the front of the ear to the speaker, which sits in the ear. It can have a custom tip or a dome on the end which sits in the ear. This is the most popular style as it suits many types of hearing loss and are very discreet sitting on the ear.
